Infinite Care Cornubia is a 133 resident aged care facility in the suburb of Cornubia just south of Brisbane. The facility is designed to maximize residents views from the site and provide extensive accessible resident recreational facilities. All residents are housed within sole occupancy rooms of varying size and finish standards. The building has two residential levels and a separate services and staff level. The materials pallet is inspired by traditional residential construction in South East Queensland mixed to provide interest along the facades. The building was also provided with Geo-Thermal Air-conditioning and an cutting edge heat recovery hot water system which in part utilized excess heat from the AC plant.
Justin Smith, Director of Strategy and Development, Infinite Care
The building is designed around a central two storey space providing destination facilities for all residents as well as an entrance to the site and links to the garden spaces beyond. Around this space are Hair Salon, Theatre, large and small Function Spaces, Lounge, Sitting Rooms, Visiting Consultants Rooms and a Health and Wellness Centre.
The siting of the building and its form was conceived to embrace the outlook from the site by utilizing a high contour of the site and a series of resident balconies to provide vernacular design cues.
