Rockpool’s Pelican Waters Aged Care Facility opened in late 2023.
GJG Architects designed this facility along with a talented design and construct team headed up by McNab. We were integral to all aspect of this facilities journey from the drawing board to beloved home for Rockpool’s residents.
This building accommodates 150 residents over 6 levels. The planning is organized by positioning 15-resident ‘homes’ around a vertical circulation core.
The ground floor provides destination and services facilities.
This building also received the Queensland Master Builders Award for “Community Accommodation for Specialist Disability, Aged Care and Nursing Homes” for the Sunshine Coast Region in 2024. Congratulations to our building partners McNab for this award.

For Rockpool Pelican Waters we incorporated some unique detailing to the Northern and Western Faces of the building. The horizontal awning as well as providing significant sun shading also acknowledge Rockpool’s colours.
It is always our intention when designing Aged Care residences to facilitate increased connection between the staff and residents of these facilities and the communities in which they exist. At Pelican Waters particular care was taken to have an outreach area of the building that still provided a sense of security for the residents.
